{Le Sacre Coeur, the iconic meringue-like basilica perched atop Montmartre.}
If you're ever on the hunt for something to do in Paris to feel a bit like a local, Brit expat Kim Laidlaw Adrey of I Heart Paris showcases the latest and greatest finds, as well as solid go-tos that will always be in style (just visit the archives). Or if I'm looking for a last minute idea, her Twitter feed is always full of fun ideas in the city. I'm so happy to have her on the 'Tour de France' today giving us an insider look into the arrondissement she calls home, the 18th (75018), also commonly referred to as Montmartre.
p.s. I've designed some snazzy new maps that go along with each guest post so you can get a sense of where we are in the city!
{Montmartre's romantic steps are pretty and romantic to look at or to sit on, but they are killer on the thighs to climb up... [right] Looking down - What goes up must come down. It's far less strenuous on the return leg...}
{Tombées du Camion. . . [right]Favorite place to eat/drink: Arguably the best restaurant in the entire 18th arrondissement, Guilo Guilo is a gem serving innovative Japanese cuisine to the lucky few who manage to snag a table.}
{Favorite shop: Tombées du Camion - a tiny little treasure trove of a shop, full to the brim with little vintage knick knacks ranging from dolls' eyes, to bakelite jewelry to toy soldiers.}
Thanks, Kim!

I love Montmartre, though it's quite far away from me...
ReplyDeleteAnd yes, I daydream about those houses and gardens behind fences up there....
