Tour de France: Paris, 7ème – Jordan et Paul Ferney

When I moved back to Paris in 2009, the 7th arrondissement (75007) was where I lived (both literally and was home to my university), so it is an area of the city I hold dear and know well. So I was so happy to have American expats Jordan and Paul Ferney share many of my favorite locations in their tour of the 7ème. They're in Paris for the year with their two adorable young boys and living la vie parisienne. You can check out more from Jordan at Oh Happy Day! (and all her Paris posts here), and Paul's paintings here. Stay tuned because the two are teaming up for a very cool Paris project where Jordan photographs and Paul paints – but you'll just have to wait and see... In the meantime, click here to explore Paris through the eyes of guest bloggers in the 'Tour de France.'

From Jordan & Paul: We love the 7th for picnics on the Champ de Mars. We have kids so we go here almost every day for the playground and carousel. The 7th also has fantastic food streets like Grenelle and Rue Cler and a million boulangeries. The area that borders the 6th has some great boutiques but I haven't explored them enough to find a favorite. We have lots of grass in the 7th (that you can actually sit on) and we love the wide open spaces of Les Invalides and the Champs de Mars. We also claim the Musee D'Orsay and Musee Rodin which because of convenience we can pop into for an hour or two on a walk with the kids. (Annual passes allow you to pass the long line of tourists waiting.) We love the 7th!

  3. Ah, the lovely seventh!
I must admit, while I don't spend much time there, the Musée Rodin may be my absolute favourite, so I should keep heading back...
    Wonderful, as usual!

  4. Great suggestions.

The great district of AUP. I feel like I know it like the back of my hand. Roussillon is always amust and of course Tribeca or anywhere on Rue Cler. My favorite Boulangerie is the "Purple Bakery" on Rue de Grenelle, right between Rue Amelie and Rue Cler. SO DELCIOUS and perfect for a sandwich to bring to the Champ de Mars.

    Lovely post!

  5. Lush, lush photos. I didn't notice it was a guest photographer until now. I hope to hit Paris pavement by August. Lucky I just found you.

    Love, love.. :)

  6. I am different than others who have posted here in that I have spent a lot of time in the 7th and that's because it is so wonderful. You are close to almost everything and yet you are out of the way of the noise, traffic and congestion that plagues other areas of Paris, like the 6th. The tea shops in 7th are grand. It's fun to see the wealthy Parisians sporting their finery, stopping in to have tea and little delicacies in the afternoon. Thank you for your post, it brings back fond memories.
